What causes the different sizes of PVC edge banding?

What causes the different sizes of PVC edge banding? Shanghai Angmi New Materials Co., Ltd. will answer your questions.

The following factors can affect the size of PVC edge banding:

1. Temperature

Temperature has no significant effect on the dimensional stability of PVC edge banding. The shrinkage rate of PVC edge banding increases with the increase of temperature: the shrinkage rate before edge banding increases faster and linearly after 60℃, while the shrinkage rate after edge banding shows this trend after 70℃. Considering that the maximum continuous use temperature of PVC is 65℃~85℃, the experimental temperature is set at 65℃.

2. Time

Time has a significant effect on the dimensional stability of PVC edge banding. The shrinkage rate of PVC edge banding increases with time. In an environment of 65℃, the shrinkage rate before edge banding tends to stabilize after 4h, and the shrinkage rate after edge banding tends to stabilize after 5h. For the convenience of the experiment, the experimental time is set to 4h.

3. From humidity

It has little effect on the unsealed edge banding. The shrinkage rate of the edge banding strip after edge sealing is reduced under high humidity conditions. The reason for the reduction is apparently due to the reverse dimensional change of the substrate. The specific reason for the change is the stress between the substrate, glue and edge banding strip.

4. Weather temperature difference

The hot and cold cycles have no significant effect on the dimensional stability of PVC edge banding strips. For PVC edge banding strips that have been overheated, the shrinkage rate is basically unchanged under low temperature conditions; it is continuously heated during the cycle, although it is still at the same temperature, but due to the influence of time factors, its shrinkage rate still increases, but the increase is not large.

5. Raw materials

This factor has a significant impact on the dimensional stability of plastic edge banding strips.
